Hard to take over with a prototype… but I agree it looks like a cool platform with a solid backing.
Will they have the power to prevent mobile carriers from scaling it all back again … and if not, will they have to purchase a major network in order to keep the sandbox open?
Of course there are the constant rumors that Google will buy a mobile player (this week it’s Sprint Nextel). I don’t think that will be the case, but it is interesting to ponder how this open source approach (and Google’s ad dollars) will help to evolve the mobile industry here in the States.
In other words, I think this is truly revolutionary for the mobile industry at large while something like the iPhone is a geek toy meant for the digerati and early adopters.
